METHODOLOGY OF ADMISSION TO STUDIES FOR CITIZENS FROM E.U. COUNTRIES, EUROPEAN ECONOMIC AREA, SWISS CONFEDERATION AND FROM NON E.U. STATES

The methodology of admission to studies of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova is developed in compliance with:

- Higher Education Act 199/2023

- Order No 3696/2024 for the approval of the Framework Methodology regarding the organisation of admission to higher education in the short undergraduate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree courses;

- Methodology of admission to studies and tuition of foreign citizens from the school/academic year 2017-2018, of 17.03.2017 Part of Order 3473/2017;

- Order No 4241/2020 regarding the implementation of measures to improve the efficiency of the services provided by the National Centre for the Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas;

- Order No 4151/2020 regarding amendments to the Methodology of admission to studies and tuition of foreign citizens starting with the school/academic year 2017-2018, approved by the Order of the Minister of National Education No 3.473/2017;

- Order No 5736/2020 regarding amendments to the Methodology of admission and tuition of foreign citizens starting with the school/academic year 2017-2018, approved by the Order of the Minister of National Education No 3.473/2017 - Ministry of Education and Research.

*The tuition fees may suffer changes during the study years with the approval of the Senate of UMF Craiova.

The eligible applicants are the citizens of the E.U., the E.E.A., and the Swiss Confederation or Non E.U. countries who:

-            have documents that certify the citizenship of the state of origin and who require the enrollment to studies in Romania on own expense;

-            have study documents issued by educational institutions recognized in the country of origin;

-            submit the file by the deadline established by this methodology.

 

Should be taken into consideration that courses offered for a degree in Medicine and Dental Medicine – English language section are taught in English but due to the need for the doctor-patient communication, practical works, clinical trainings are carried out in Romanian language starting with the fourth year of study.

 

Application steps

 

!If you want to apply to more than one programme of study, it is mandatory to create different accounts for each one using different email addresses!

 

The REGISTRATION fee will only be paid online, on the addmission platform, as part of the registration process.

After filling in the personal data and uploading the required documents, the candidate will be able to pay the registration fee on the platform. Once the payment is processed, the file will be automatically sent to the university.

The processing fee for the submitted file is 200 euros and it is non-refundable.

 

1. The candidate will apply for U.M.F. of Craiova by accessing the online platform and will fill in all the fields with requested information and upload all the mentioned documents.

 Please be sure that:

-            all your documents are scanned in PDF format only and the name of the document must include the type of document and the candidate’s surname (passport.Smith, transcriptofrecords.Smith, etc.);

-            scan the original documents as well as the legalized translations into a single PDF document and upload them in the appropriate section;

-            it is mandatory that the candidate uses his/her personal e-mail address containing his/her full name;

Important! This e-mail address will be used to create the student account if the candidate is declared admitted.

 

2. The online submissions of the candidates will be processed by International Relations Office and if:

- the file is incomplete, the candidate will receive a correction notice through the platform in order to upload the missing documents or modify the incorrect and incomplete fields.

Candidates are required to periodically check the status of their applications by accessing their personal accounts on the online admission platform, as the admissions committee may request additional documents if the file is incomplete.

- the file is complete, the candidate will receive a validation notice through the platform;

All the submitted files will be processed and receive a registration code but only the complete ones will be declared eligible.

 

3. After the provisional results are published, eligible candidates will attend an online English language test on the admissions platform. This can be accessed within 3 days of the publication of the provisional results, and passing the test is mandatory in order to confirm your place.

Please note that the English language test is accessible only after paying a non-refundable fee of 100 euros, which will be paid online on the admission platform.

 

Exempted from this test are citizens from countries where English is the official language of the state or those who can prove with official certificates issued by the educational institution from which they graduated, that the teaching language in high school was English.

Countries where English is the official language: Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Cameroon, Dominica, Fiji, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, India, Falkland Islands, Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Liberia, Malaysia, Malta, Mauritius, South Africa, Micronesia, Montserrat, Philippines, South Africa, United Kingdom, Namibia, Nauru, Nigeria, New Zealand, Pakistan, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Samoa, St Christopher and Nevis, St Vincent and the Grenadines, St Lucia, Sierra Leone, Singapore, United States of America, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

 

4. Candidates will confirm their places on the admission platform by paying the amount of 2000 euro. The amount is non-refundable.

Citizens of the European Union, EEA, EC ranked 1-90 (Medicine in English) and 1-30 (Dentistry in English) must confirm their place of study by paying online, on the admission platform, the minimum non-refundable fee of 2000 euro, within 3 days of the publication of the preliminary results.

IMPORTANT!

Non-payment of the confirmation fee within the deadline automatically leads to loss of place!

 

Non-EU citizens ranked 1-90 (Medicine in English) and 1-30 (Dental Medicine in English) must confirm their place of study by paying online, on the admission platform, the minimum non-refundable fee of 2000 euro, within 3 days of the publication of the preliminary results.

In the first 5 days after receiving the acceptance letter, full payment of the first year tuition fee is mandatory in order to obtain the study visa. The payment can be done on the online admission platform also.

IMPORTANT!

Non-payment of the confirmation fee within the set deadline automatically leads to the loss of the place of study!

 

5. After the confirmation of the study places, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova will send the necessary documents to the Romanian Ministry of Education in order to obtain the acceptance letters (for non-EU citizens). When the answer is received (could take up to 30 working days). The University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova will send candidates their acceptance letters to the email address they used to create their account on the online platform.

Take into consideration that the enrollment will be possible only if the candidate’s studies will be recognized by the Ministry of Education.

 

During the period 02.09.2024 - 23.09.2024 candidates must submit their file personally to the International Relations Office (Petru Rareș Street no. 2, Craiova, Romania) containing the following:

- all the documents uploaded on the online platform (original legalized translations);

- the original high school diploma or equivalent (in this case is mandatory to submit a notary statement, in Romanian language, specifying the date of submission of the original high school diploma);

- the receipt for the enrolment fee 150 RON - can be paid to the Financial Department at 1 Mai Street, no 68, Craiova;

- 4 recent photos (2,5 x 3,5 cm)

 

The International Relations Office will check the submitted files and if they contain all the documents mentioned above, candidates will be able to sign the study contract.

 

 

CITIZENS FROM U.E. COUNTRIES, EUROPEAN ECONOMIC AREA (E.E.A.), SWISS CONFEDERATION

3. University Application Essay – maximum 400 words (dated and signed);

4. English Language Proficiency Certificate – minimum B2 level issued by an accredited institution – colored scanned original;

Exemption from it:

      -citizens from countries where the official language is English;

      -citizens who have completed High School studies in an educational institution where the teaching language was English providing a certificate that states it;

5. High School Diploma or the equivalent1 colored scanned original and 1 translation in Romanian certified as authentic by a notary.

If you submit the equivalent issued by the high school institution, it has to specify the average grade of the Final High School examination, the passed subjects, grades and the validity term of the certificate. It is also mandatory to provide a notary statement (translated in Romanian) with the term for submitting the high school diploma.

Depending on the country your High School Diploma is issued it must be authenticated with Hague Apostille or authenticated by:

ü   Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the issuing country;

ü   Embassy/Consular Office of Romania in the issuing country.

Important! It might be necessary for you to submit additional documents beside your high school diploma - if you do, please submit in the same PDF also 1 colored scanned original and 1 translation in Romanian (certified as authentic by a notary).

If the surname and first name of the candidate on the study documents do not correspond to the surname and first name mentioned in the ID/passport, the candidate must submit an explanatory note, certified by a notary, declaring on his/her own responsibility that he/she is the legal holder of the study documents submitted.

 

6. Transcript of Records for each high school year of study  1 colored scanned original and 1 translation in Romanian certified as authentic by a notary;

7.  Other documents – that can improve your score (e.g. graduation diploma from another university medical or non-medical studies, volunteer certificates medicine related – maximum 2) - 1 colored scanned original and 1 translation in Romanian;

8. Birth Certificate – 1 colored scanned original and 1 translation in Romanian (certified as authentic by a notary);

9. Passport or Personal Identity Document (colored scanned copies) - valid at least six months from 01.10.2024;

10. Document proving residence abroad (passport/ID with address of residence or document obtained from the town hall/prefecture of the town of residence) - 1 colored scanned original and 1 translation in Romanian;

11. Medical certificate attesting that the candidate has no contagious diseases or other physical or mental conditions incompatible with the medical profession - 1 colored scanned original and 1 translation in Romanian;

12.  4 recent photos (2,5 x 3,5 cm) - only when submitting personally the file;

13. Romanian citizens must submit:

- a notary statement declaring that they wish to enroll in an English-language study programme, with payment of the tuition fee in foreign currency, to study under a financial regime with payment of the fee in foreign currency and that they are aware that their financial status remains unchanged for the entire duration of their university studies and can only be changed after passing a new entrance examination, held under the conditions provided for candidates who participate in the entrance examination for budgeted or fee-paying places in Ron;

the student has the possibility to equivalence the studies completed in English language by requesting so and respecting the applicable legislation.

- and a document attesting the residence abroad (passport/ID with address of residence or document obtained from the town hall/prefecture of the town of residence) - 1 colored scanned original and 1 translation in Romanian.

 

Residence in Romania during studies

 

European Union citizens do not need a visa to study in Romania. They must announce their residence in Romania at the Immigration Bureau Dolj (Serviciul pentru Imigrări al judeţului Dolj) - Amaradia Street, no. 32-34, Craiova - where they will obtain the Certificate of Registration.

The International Relations Office will advise them on this matter.

  

 

CITIZENS FROM

NON-E.U. COUNTRIES

 

Mandatory documents for admission process:

 

1. Application for the issuance of letter of acceptance to studies (filled, dated and signed, with photo attached) – 1 colored scanned original;

Residence in Romania during studies

 

Non-European citizens must obtain a study visa, issued by the Romanian Embassy in the country of residence. The visa is issued based on the Letter of Acceptance, issued by the Ministry of Education - General Directorate of International Relations and European Affairs and the payment of the tuition fee for one academic year. The study visa is valid 90 days, during which time candidates are required to obtain a residence permit in Romania issued by the Immigration Bureau Dolj (Serviciul pentru Imigrări al judeţului Dolj) - Amaradia Street, no. 32-34, Craiova.

  Apply for study visa as soon as you receive the Letter of Acceptance!

  

Selection process

 

I. The analysis of the submitted files will be processed by the Admission Committee in the order in which the applications are received and the preliminary results will be published on the university`s website - umfcv.ro. The preliminary results list is not equivalent to the actual enrolment in the first year of studies.

II. The selection of the candidates will be done in decreasing order of the obtained score, according to the selection criteria mentioned below.

 

III. University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova may organize in September, depending on the number of candidates, a test of general knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, grid type.
