CLINICAL PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY vs. SHAKESPEARIAN INSPIRED DRAMATIC PSYCHIATRY

The national symposium aims to present a combination of the two existing academic currents in psychiatry in Craiova, namely dramatic psychiatry, inspired by the work of William Shakespeare and analyzed in a clinical and psychopathological manner by Prof. Alexandru Olaru and the psychopharmacological and neurobiological current, founded by Prof. Tudor Udriștoiu and Prof. Dragoș Marinescu.

Dramatic psychiatry is an educational model in the training of clinical psychiatrists, with the analysis of dramatic characters in Shakespeare's work generating controversy about the relationship between mental health and psychopathology. The biological dimension of major psychiatric disorders can in turn be superimposed on the models of Shakespearean characters, and psychopharmacology generates philosophical interpretations of individual, social and creative sanogenesis.
