The Faculty of Dental Medicine of Craiova was established in 1990 within the Faculty of Medicine and became an independent faculty in 1998, later adopting its current name in 2004, in accordance with European Union regulations. The Department of Endodontics has developed continuously, both academically and scientifically, providing modern facilities for students and residents, including specialized clinical spaces and advanced endodontic equipment.

The teaching staff is actively involved in education, clinical practice, and research, with numerous publications in internationally indexed journals and presentations at national and international scientific events. Research directions focus on the histopathological, immunohistochemical, and microbiological study of dental pulp and periapical tissues, radiological assessment of root morphology, and the development and evaluation of new endodontic biomaterials and techniques.

Through its strong academic tradition and scientific contributions, the Faculty of Dental Medicine of Craiova plays a significant role in advancing dental education, research, and clinical practice, nationally and internationally.
