History
The English-language program was established in 2019, and the first series of students to follow the pathological anatomy discipline was in 2020. The first head of the discipline, who still leads it today, was Professor Claudiu Margaritescu.
Material base:
The subject of Pathological Anatomy has a material base largely in common with that of the similar subject from the Romanian program, being represented by 4 rooms equipped with modern equipment (Nikon microscope equipped with automatic camera and monitors, computers, video camera) which have different destinations within the educational process. In two of these specially arranged rooms, practical work on microscopy and macroscopy is carried out, while two others serve to process and store macro and microscopic demonstration preparations, which are constantly enriched. As a result, the subject's collection contains a large number of demonstration preparations, intended both for the training of students and for use in the postgraduate education process.
Objectives of the discipline:
Pathological anatomy is a discipline addressed to second-year students of the Faculty of Dental Medicine, whose analytical program correlates with a large number of preclinical disciplines (anatomy, embryology, histology, cellular and molecular biology, physiopathology) and clinical disciplines (cariology, endodontics, periodontology, oral pathology, surgery, internal medicine, gynecology, neurology, dermatology). It includes the notions necessary to understand the lesional substrate of diseases, thus making the connection between fundamental sciences and medical practice. To this end, it aims to acquire knowledge of general pathology regarding fundamental processes at different structural levels; acquire notions of systemic pathology, regarding morphological changes in different diseases at the level of systems and apparatuses, indispensable for understanding the mechanism of production and their manifestations; acquiring the notions of oro-maxillo-facial pathology, necessary to understand the causes, mechanism of occurrence and clinical manifestations of various diseases with this location.
